We found a state park not to far from our place and they had a lake with a beach. So one day I loaded up the boys and off we went to swim in the lake. They had fun playing in the sand and swimming in the water. For awhile we were the only ones there, then a lady showed up with her 4 girls and mentioned that it had been closed for most of the summer due to Ecoli, but it just got tested and was ok and they reopened it. My years of studying Health Education and motherly instincts wanted to grab the boys and run to the car and go home and disinfect us, but it was too late. I figured why not try and relax we are already here. So I did the only thing I could "threaten the boys to not swallow the water" and we finished out our morning at the lake. Despite freaken me out about Ecoli we had fun.
WATKINS-MILL STATE PARK with the Olsen's and Liz's parents. We went to see the waterfall, but there wasn't much of a waterfall.
At the top of the waterfall.

At the top of the waterfall.
Kansa City Temple. It's so fun to drive by and see how it's coming along. We can't wait til it's finished. The boys get so excited when we are driving on the freeway and we see it overtop of all the trees they yell. Temple mommy....Angel Moroni. I love it.
KANSAS CITY ZOO. Matt's co resident has 3 boys. Twins that are Grant's age and another little boy that's Ty's age. She invited us to go to the zoo with her.
They boys loved the african animals. Especially the giraffee's and zebra's

we road this skycoaster across the african animals. Candice (Matt's co resident) Colt, and Landon, and Then Grant and Kade were brave and road one by themselves

And then Ty and I road in front of them.
Liz and I signed Brooklynn and Grant up for swimming lessons. Bad idea. It was SOOO hot and although Grant and Brooklynn learned alot and did awesome. Tyson, Hadley, Liz, and I had to suffer watching them for 45 min in the 100 degree weather. Poor Ty pretty much got tortured by not being able to go in the water. By the end I started putting his swim suit on and letting him play in the water. It was just too miserable. Next year.....indoor pool.

Grant and Brooklynn with their class and teachers Jewel and Morgan
We have also been to an indoor bounce house place. The boys had alot of fun, after about an hour of playing there some big kids came and trampled Ty. He talks about the big kids alot with his memory of this place. Hopefully it doesn't scar him for life.

Grant was really cute to help Tyson get through the jungle gym to get to the slide

The boys new favorite thing to do is make concoctions. They love it and so I love it :)

Matt had a week off in the middle of August. He read literature the first 3 days all day and then after dinner we would go do something fun. We went out to Independence, MO

The grounds that were dedicated by Joseph Smith to build a temple.

LDS Independence Visitors Center

Church of Christ's Temple. We call it the ice cream church

One evening we went to Worlds of Fun. One of the boys favorite rides....the airplane. We went to Charlie Brown's Hoedown show. Grant volunteered to go up and play the Washboard instrument with Charlie Brown. He wasn't sure what to do at first he kept looking at the lady as she said, "can you play the washboard, she had to say it a couple of times before Grant realized what he was suppose to do.It was super cute and fun to watch him.

One of the days with Matt we went over into Kansas to check out the Children's museum....Wonderscope.
Dr. Grant
Dr. Tyson (his cheesy smile kills me I love it)
Dr. Grant listening for the babies heartbeat
He was pretending to give me a shot in my mouth. I was trying to open so big so the shot didn't touch my mouth.
Matt built a castle and the boys hid in it.
Sitting on the policeman's bike at Legends Outlets
HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY TYSON. They really are best buddies
We went to eat at the T-Rex Dinosaur Restaurant. There is only two in the whole US. One in Kansas and the other at Disneyworld.
Waiting to be seated. It was really fun. There was a meteor shower during dinner and all the mechanical dinosaurs moving and growling.
The waiters and waitresses are singing to Ty behind him. This was his look as they were singing. He was shy while they were singing, but really excited about it after.
Love our little family. In front of the Dinosaur Restaurant.
Every time we talked about Tyson having a birthday. He mentioned his bus cake. So here the bus cake Matt and I made for him.
August 20th, 2011. Happy Birthday Tyson. Sitting in the circle o presents. Don't mind the non matching jammies. The top is long sleeve so we just throw a t-shirt on with the bottoms :)
Loved opening presents.
For his birthday we road this train around a park. It was fun and the boys loved it.
The train and the park
He was so excited to finally get to eat his cake.
Grant told him to wait until he said to blow out the candles. So Tyson is watching Grant waiting for his ok.
He new exactly how to do it. He blew them both out.
Grant's messy face from the cake

One of their favorite rooms was the Dr.'s room. Dr. Grant looking at moms teeth. It was cute watching him try to figure out how to look in the mirror and see my teeth. Good thing dad came to the rescue to show him the right way.

Tyson really carefully eating his cake. He doesn't like his hands to get messy
The next day we had a little party with Mike and Liz. They were driving home from Canada on his birthday so we thought it would be fun to celebrate again.
Tyson had gotten so big and so much fun. He is really smart and loves to play what Grant plays with. He gives the best hugs and kisses. He loves to help and is getting quite the imagination. He knows his colors and is learning his shapes along with his letters with Grant. He is talking really well and although he is still fiesty he has this really sweet loving side to him.
